Today our tour took us around Athens.

We began by stopping at the modern Olympic stadium and went on to see the changing of the guard at the parliament.

All the time as we were driving we could see the Acropolis which was our main destination.

It’s quite a climb up the Acropolis and it was turning into a very warm day. Also, by 10:00 when we were there it was getting exceedingly crowded. It is awesome to think how long it has been there and how many millions of people have visited it

After the Acropolis itself we went to its museum at the base of the rock it sits on. They have all the artefacts discovered around the Acropolis there and it is very well presented, though picture taking is mostly not allowed.

The afternoon was free and we spent it walking around the Plaka area which is the old city now mostly souvenir shops and boutiques. It was interesting but by 4:00 we were tired and hot (it had reached 36 by then) and we took a cab back to the hotel, napped and had dinner.
