Today we are in Heraklion, Crete. This is where the famous labyrinth of the Minotaur of Greek mythology is located. Actually, the “labyrinth” is the ruins of the Minoan palace complex from 1600 BC. The Minoans were the first civilization of Europe. I have been fascinated by them since, as a kid, I got a book from the library about Sir Arthur Evans who did the work of uncovering the palace in the early 20th century. But let the pictures tell the tale.

After visiting the ruins we went on to the museum in Heraklion which is very well organized but was terribly crowded when we were there.
