We left Ürgüp at 7:30, just as the morning balloon rides over Göreme valley were ending.

We passed a large salt lake that dries up almost completely every summer and whose salt flats are the country’s chief source of table salt.

When we arrived at Ankara we went first to Atatürk’s mausoleum, a gigantic structure on a hill containing a large museum showcasing his life.

We finished the day at the Ankara Museum which features exhibits from 8000 BC to the beginning of the Greco-Roman period. I have never seen the Stone Age presented any better. And then the bronze and iron ages. The place is full of treasures.
