Today our Israel tour started. I must admit to being somewhat disappointed. First we drove out of Tel Aviv to the Latrun Trappist monastery which is located at a strongpoint of the road from Jaffa to Jerusalem. It is a pretty place but without very much intrinsic interest.

Picture uploading has just failed so no more pics today.
After the monastery we went on to the Aylin valley where Samson lived in conflict with the nearby Philistines and also David killed Goliath. There was nothing to see except plowed fields and crops.
Then to Jaffa for lunch and a walking tour of the old city. We were shown the supposed house of Simon the tanner where Peter had his vision of the cloth laden with all kinds of food and the revelation that the kosher laws were no longer binding on Christians. But the building was of medieval construction.
Tomorrow we will move on to some hopefully more interesting sites.
