Today we took the train to Chartres to see the cathedral. It is beautiful and awesome as you would expect. The glass windows are plentiful and very old. It’s hard to get a decent picture of them with an iPhone but I got one which I think will do.

They are cleaning the sculptured wall around the choir and the difference it makes is striking

There is also a maze in the floor of the nave and many people were walking it as did I. I came across a couple of people who were going the wrong way and observed others hopping from the path to another spot to cut out some of the maze loops.

When we got back I went to that passage with all the stamp stores. But it’s August in Paris and every one of them is closed till after we have left. Tantalizing.

Tonight we will eat at an old family restaurant near the hotel and tomorrow will be shopping and sightseeing.
