A very busy day.

This morning went to Sacre Coeur for mass st 11:00.

It was full, possibly because Notre Dame is not available now. I was expecting to hear a half hour organ recital after the service but it did not happen. Apparently the organist decided to do it today after the 4:00 and 10:00 PM services????.

After lunch we went down to the Louvre. I went in but Shirl went to the Musée des Arts Decoratifs since they are meant to have a great collection of costume through the ages. But it turned out to be mainly furniture.

Meanwhile, I went through the Egyptian, Roman and Ancient Near East wings in the Louvre. That stuff never gets old for me.

I thought this 3000 year old stature of an official and his wife was especially attractive because of the tenderness expressed between them.

And some of the Roman portrait paintings were strikingly beautiful.

After the museums we had supper and then went to Sainte Chapelle for a concert of Handel, Vivaldi, Pachelbel and Bach. You have to go through security on the way in since the Chapel is within the grounds of the Palais de Justice. I was wearing my shell jacket tied around my waist and had my umbrella in one of the sleeves with the end tied shut. The whole arrangement had worked it’s way around my waist so I came through the metal detector with the thing swinging between my legs. This got the attention of the security screener who asked what it was. When I told him it was an umbrella he started laughing uncontrollably and said, “Really?? my mind had gone somewhere else”. It’s not everyday you get to brighten a security guard’s shift.

The concert itself was lovely. The lead of the orchestra, who was the first violinist, was exceptionally lively sometimes going mode to nose with another player as their parts replied to each other.
